b3 Architects Sectors
We’re specialists, but we don’t specialise. It may seem like we are quibbling over semantics, but there is a difference. At b3, we have an in-depth knowledge of the discipline we work in – but we look to transfer this knowledge across boundaries, enabling us to find solutions that others couldn’t.
We also understand that we might not have all the answers. That’s why we collaborate with other professionals, such as other architects, engineers and planners. b3’s projects range in scale from in town mixed use schemes, commercial off ice buildings, industrial units, public buildings to one-off private client house designs. We understand that each project has its own unique characteristics.
Retail
b3 have investigated and delivered in town and out of town developments by repurposing existing buildings. In town solutions could involve reducing retail elements and increasing diversity by providing additional uses at the upper levels such as boutique cinemas, residential and hotels.
Commercial & Mixed Use
The commercial imperative need not overwhelm the aesthetic one. At b3, we design buildings fit-for-purpose, driven by commercial realities – but we try to inject this process with a real sense of individuality.
Projects may range from multi-million pound mixed use town centre schemes, such as Lister Gate, Nottingham, with an approximate construction cost of £75m, to retail and student accommodation complexes.
Leisure
Projects range from large multiplex restaurant developments, such as Market Square, Marlow, where this grade 2* listed building was remodelled and extended to provide a new venue for Everyman Cinemas.
Industrial
b3’s work with clients across many different sectors, from public services to hi-tech scientific organisations, has given us a broad level of understanding. Today, more and more organisations are realising that industrial doesn’t equate to ugly. That is why we believe in working on form as much as function, delivering buildings that people want to work in. Projects range from 25,000m2 of industrial estate at Roscommon Way, Canvey Island, to site specific proposals at Stocklake, Aylesbury.
Residential
Projects range from large scale residential schemes with over 200 residential units, such as Raban’s Lane, Aylesbury to smaller schemes such as the site to the rear of the High Street Halstead. In addition, we create attractive, innovative homes with an emphasis on sustainability. Working with housing developers, house builders, local councils, housing associations and private clients, we are equally at home designing cutting-edge buildings as traditional house types.
